An Esalen® Massage Approach to Trauma
(21 CE)
Today, huge advancements have been made in the field of trauma awareness and how to effectively work with physical symptoms caused by trauma. Robin brings 28 years of experience as a bodyworker, yoga instructor, and dancer to this work.
Trauma symptoms can present in a variety of ways, such as pain, illness, collapsed posture, extreme sensitivity, along with a host of other potential symptoms. These symptoms can keep our clients from experiencing the full benefits of massage, and affect the quality of their lives. When we learn to hold a compassionate space for these clients, we can support them in their healing process, and offer them practical tools for increasing their ability to receive touch and learning to physically relax, thereby decreasing many of their symptoms.
The Esalen massage practice, with it’s long slow flowing strokes, pauses, and high quality presence, lends itself well to working with clients who are experiencing symptoms from trauma. Through lecture, demonstration, and practice you will learn to identify the causes and symptoms of trauma and address these symptoms through giving an effective Esalen Massage. You will learn specific Esalen massage techniques and mindfulness practices to be able to hold a healing space for your clients, and have the capacity to stay grounded, centered and compassionate so they can then enjoy the benefits of massage.
