Stillpoint Signature Massage
Presence-Based Advanced Bodywork
Inspired by Esalen® Massage
Still Point’s Signature Massage is an integrative, presence-based form of massage and bodywork that first took root on the cliffs of Big Sur, California, at the renowned Esalen Institute. In its essence, each session is an invitation to slow down, drop into a deep state of presence and mindful awareness of the bodymind connection, and experience a state of deep rest that we call the stillpoint.
This massage style was developed by co-owner Robin Fann Costanzo, drawing on over three decades of experience at the Esalen Institute, where she currently is a senior esalen massage teacher and Chairperson of the Esalen Massage and Bodywork Association.
Our team of licensed massage therapists share a foundation in the principles and techniques of Esalen-inspired touch; cultivated through dedicated training, mentorship, and immersive study. We encourage you to review the bios of our practitioners to learn their specialties, many are certified in Esalen® Massage, reflecting their deep training in this mindful, body-centered approach.
Sessions are designed to regulate the nervous system and support whole-body integration. Expect long, flowing strokes that travel the full length of the body. Pressure is applied with an open, full-handed touch and adapts as the body softens and releases. Practitioners move slowly, listening closely to your body’s cues in real time.
Your practitioner may incorporate a range of techniques such as gentle rocking, passive joint movement, stretching, deep tissue work, acupressure, craniosacral therapy, or subtle energy work. Every massage is unique and attuned to where you are, physically, emotionally, and energetically on the day you arrive.
